Indices Markets – FAQ

What are the average spreads on indices?

Genesis Market Capital offers some of the tightest spreads on index CFDs globally. You can view real-time spreads directly on our platform for full transparency.

Where do your index CFD prices come from?

Our index prices are aggregated from leading high-frequency trading firms (HFTs) and non-bank market makers. These prices reflect fair value estimates based on the underlying market (futures, indices, or stocks), adjusted for liquidity and hedging factors.

What are index CFDs?

Index CFDs allow you to trade the price movement of a basket of stocks — like the S&P 500 (US500), which tracks the top 500 U.S. companies — without owning the underlying assets. These derivative instruments provide exposure to global stock markets with flexibility and leverage.

Do I receive dividends when trading index CFDs?

Yes. If you’re holding a position on an index CFD during a dividend event, your account will be credited or debited depending on your position (long or short). Dividend adjustments are typically processed the day after the ex-dividend date.

What leverage is available for index CFDs?

We offer competitive leverage, which varies based on your account type and regulatory entity. Details are available in your Client Portal.

Are there financing fees for holding positions overnight?

Yes. Positions held past 17:00 ET (New York time) are subject to swap/financing charges. On Fridays, a three-day rollover is applied to cover the weekend.

Are index CFDs risk-free?

No. Like all leveraged products, index CFDs carry a high level of risk. Leverage can magnify both profits and losses, so risk management is critical.

Does pricing differ during market hours vs off-hours?

Yes. Pricing is typically tighter and more liquid during regular market hours. Outside these hours, spreads may widen due to lower liquidity in the underlying markets.

What are the market hours for indices?

Each index follows the trading hours of its underlying exchange. For example, the US500 follows NYSE hours, while the ASX200 aligns with the Australian market.

What is the value of one index point?

Generally, one index point equals 1 unit of the base currency. For example, 1 point in UK100 = 1 GBP, and 1 point in NAS100 = 1 USD.

What is the maximum and minimum trade size?

Maximum: Up to 1,000 lots per trade Minimum: Usually 0.10 lots, except for US500, JPN225, and HK50, which have a 1-lot minimum
